Stellenbosch University (SU) and HyperionDev, Southern Africa’s leading technology education provider, expanded their partnership with launching a Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) mini-bootcamp, with an AI for Business Strategy programme to follow soon.
AI is rapidly transforming how we create, innovate, and interact with technology, and harnessing its potential has never been more important. Similarly, the demand for trained AI specialists has never been greater. According to Forbes, the demand for AI-trained professionals has increased by 323% over the last eight years and continues to grow rapidly.
Anita Nel, SU’s Chief Director Innovation and Commercialisation, said SU’s partnership with HyperionDev aims to broaden access to technology education through an engaging human-led online model. “Bootcamps are also focused and intensive, helping participants quickly gain in-demand skills. Bootcamps can transform theory into impact, ensuring participants walk out of there with the knowledge and skills needed to further their careers.”
Generative AI
Riaz Moola, CEO and Founder of HyperionDev, said they designed the Generative AI Mini-Bootcamp to close the widening AI skills gap. “It aims to train a new generation of highly skilled AI professionals with the expertise and experience to stay ahead of the curve in an increasingly competitive digital landscape. The course covers fundamental AI topics, from the math behind machine learning to deep learning models used in generative AI. Learners will benefit from engaging with the mechanisms that make AI possible through knowledge-based assignments and real-world case studies, such as customer sentiment and churn.”
AI for Business Strategy
Moola says with AI radically transforming business operations, automating processes, enhancing customer experiences and driving strategic growth, the AI for Business Strategy Mini-Bootcamp equips participants with practical knowledge and hands-on strategies for implementing AI in business settings. Topics covered include AI-driven marketing and customer engagement, workflow optimisation and transparent AI decision-making.
“These mini-bootcamps offer learners a flexible learning approach suited for working professionals and students alike. Learners will benefit from practical training and skills development through real-world case studies for immediate business implementation.”
This launch forms part of the broader HyperionDev and SU partnership to deliver career-ready tech education across various in-demand fields like Cyber Security, Software Engineering, and Data Science, as well as deliver certified immersive bootcamps in Full Stack Web & Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence & Software Engineering. These programmes are designed to equip students with the hands-on, practical skills needed to succeed in high-demand tech roles, whether they’re starting a new career or upskilling for advancement.
“We are proud to extend our partnership with SU – Africa’s top-ranked tech university – to continue delivering bootcamps to equip Africans with the tech skills of the future,” said Moola. “In over two years of working with SU, we’ve enabled career transitions for hundreds of students into high-impact tech roles at leading tech companies hiring in Africa, including Takealot, Showmax, and Amazon.”
These bootcamps have made a real impact for past participants, allowing them to transition or progress in their careers. According to HyperionDev’s recent Graduate Outcomes Report, 88% of successful bootcamp participants secured a job offer within six months of bootcamp completion, and many enjoyed a median salary increase of 178%. Alumni have successfully transitioned into tech roles at top employers such as Absa, Accenture, Microsoft, Capitec, Unilever, and Vodacom—a strong testament to the real-world impact and career outcomes delivered by these bootcamps.
Registrations for the Generative AI Mini-Bootcamp are now open, and prospective participants can apply online. The AI for Business Strategy Mini-Bootcamp will be available for registration soon.
