Sendmarc To Use Kalon’s Venture Partners Investment To Scale Business Globally

Sendmarc, a cyber-security email protection and compliance business, is planning to use Kalon’s Venture Partners follow-on investment to scale the business into global markets.

South African venture capital firm Kalon Venture Partners announced last January its first investment in Sendmarc. For more read: Kalon Venture Partners Invest in Cyber-Security Email Protection Firm

Sendmarc was launched in 2018 by Sam Hutchinson, Keith Thompson and Sacha Matulovich. These key founding members were the pioneers in identifying a need for a safer and more secure email environment for small to large companies.

The company provides the setup, implementation and reporting functionality for a global email protection standard known as DMARC. This protocol is designed to give email domain owners the ability to protect their domains from unauthorised use, such as impersonation attacks or email spoofing.

The purpose and primary outcomes of implementing DMARC are to protect a domain from being used in business email compromise attacks, phishing emails, email scams and other invasive cyber threats. By accelerating the implementation of DMARC, Sendmarc enables organizations to protect not only themselves but their customers, suppliers and the whole world from impersonation attacks on the implementing organization’s domain.

Sendmarc’s revenue has grown at an average of 30% month-on-month since January 2021 and processed circa 400 million emails per month on their platform. This is a substantial growth from the previous 1.5 billion emails processed during their first 8 months after going live.

In addition, Sendmarc has grown its customer base 14 times during the last 14 months. These customers include 35 JSE listed companies as well as some international clients. Sendmarc has become the leading cybersecurity platform in Africa solving the phishing and spoofing problem.

Its expansion plans include entering international markets, while the company continues to build its presence in South Africa.
