Introstat, a long-standing player in the South African print and IT solutions market, has recently made significant strides in its business strategy, particularly in the realms of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
Partnering with HP through the Amplify Impact programme, Introstat has not only enhanced its business but also contributed to a brighter future for its employees, the community, and the industry at large.
Founded in 1989, Introstat has been a key player in the IT solutions landscape of South Africa, with offices and distribution centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban.
The company’s journey intertwines with HP’s, dating back to 1989 when Introstat played a crucial role in HP’s milestone achievement of selling its one millionth printer.
Reflecting on this journey, Wayne Behrmann, CEO of Introstat, remarked, “It’s been a phenomenal experience to see products and services develop over the years and how the landscape and industry has changed too.”
Operating in the socio-economic complexity of South Africa, Introstat has long recognised and tackled challenges such as unemployment, educational disparities, and the digital divide. Prioritising DE&I initiatives, especially in a nation marked by a history of political unrest and segregation, has been crucial for the company.
Joining the HP Amplify Impact programme provided Introstat with the necessary resources and structure to amplify its DE&I efforts. This award-winning programme offered tailored assessments, training modules, and expert consultancy, empowering partners like Introstat to maximise sustainable business opportunities and impact.
One of the programme’s core focuses was upskilling Introstat’s workforce. Through 457 completed HP LIFE Courses, covering areas from sales fundamentals to DE&I training, the company witnessed a transformation in its staff.
Schroeder, a member of Introstat, highlighted the impact, stating, “It has translated to a more empowered staff who are having better conversations with customers, which has resulted in increased revenue and sales within the company as well.”
Moreover, Introstat’s participation in the programme led to significant partnerships, including being selected for a Sweep Pilot aimed at carbon footprint reduction. These initiatives complemented Introstat’s existing climate action work, such as its participation in HP’s ink and toner recycling programme.
The results of Introstat’s engagement with HP Amplify Impact have been remarkable. Within just one year, the company nearly doubled its score on the Amplify Impact self-assessment, signifying substantial progress towards sustainability and workforce objectives.
Reflecting on the journey, Behrmann expressed gratitude towards HP, stating, “If it weren’t for HP, I’m not sure we would have gone on this journey to the extent that we have.” This sentiment echoes across the organisation, highlighting the transformative power of partnership and collective effort in driving meaningful change.
