Nexio, South Africa’s digital system aggregator and solution provider, has strengthened its management with the appointment of six executives.
In August, Nexio appointed Mickey Mashale as CEO to drive the company’s digital transformation strategy to greater heights. Mashale joined the organization from Vodacom where she held the position of chief sales officer for Vodacom Business from February 2018.
The company said on Monday it has supported its fit-for-purpose organisational strategy with the appointment of six new exceptional senior executives that will complement the organisation’s dynamic team and complete its executive leadership.
Last month, Dakalo Kangala was appointed as Executive Head of Human Resources. Dakalo has experience in the financial services industry having started her career at ABSA. She has held various roles across the HR value chain in Vodacom South Africa including being an Organisational Effectiveness and Change Management lead before fulfilling HR Analytics and Business Partnering roles. Recently, Dakalo was the Business Manager to the Vodacom Group Chief of Human Resources.
Brian Tarr, who previously was the Chief Product & Solutions Officer at Nexio, now reports to the Chief Technology Officer as Managing Executive: Technology. Brian is a qualified Chartered Accountant by profession, who studied at Wits University and completed his articles at KPMG. He has held executive positions at Incredible Connection and Business Connexion (BCX). As the Managing Executive of BCX’s Networks division, he was responsible for growing the Cisco business from $6m in FY04 to $46m in FY08. Brian is now responsible for all technologies and solutions across Nexio and is well respected in the ICT industry.
Pieter Bouwer was appointed Managing Executive for Nexio Global Accounts. Pieter, a veteran with 44 years’ experience in the IT industry, was until recently, employed at SAP in Southern Africa where he held several positions including Regional Director and Managing Director. He was also the CEO and Group Executive Director for many JSE Listed companies, including, inter alia, ConvergeNet and AST (which then became Gijima). His career has stretched the full gamut of IT disciplines from applications, devops and infrastructure to hardware, networking, software, outsourcing and services.
Kena Setshogoe was appointed Managing Executive for Sales and Marketing. As the former Managing Director of Hewlett Packard Enterprise South Africa, Kena is a seasoned, senior executive in the information technology industry. Kena led the growth and success of various industry business lines in his previous roles at both Hewlett Packard and other global technology organisations such as IBM, Microsoft and Oracle. He recently served at African Bank as Group Executive for Customer Engagement where he managed to align group operations to embed customer centricity as policy and practice across all areas of the business. He met targets for growth in revenue across key strategic banking offerings, delivered aggressive customer acquisition requirements, and worked to rehabilitate the bank’s brand.
This month, Christo Bezuidenhout was appointed as Executive Head of Commercial. Christo has held various roles within Vodacom and Vodafone being the Finance Business Partner for Vodafone Global Enterprise for Middle East and Africa. He moved on to the Finance and Commercial Business Partner role for the Enterprise Evolution Program responsible for growing the enterprise business in Vodacom’s International Companies. Since June 2019, Christo was the Head of Sales Enablement for Vodacom Business in South Africa, wherein he successfully established the Sales Enablement function in Vodacom SA with various projects to support the Sales Organisation. Christo has been in the ICT industry since 2001 and comes with 19 years of experience in both the South African and international markets.
Marius Schafer has also joined team Nexio as a Chief Technology Officer. Marius is a management professional with over 25 years in the telecommunications industry, he began working at Telkom in 1990 where he started as a Financial Manager before rising through various positions including General Manager: Technology Shared Services, General Manager Global Service Integration. Marius Schafer was formerly appointed as Chief Revenue Officer at BCX in June 2018 and is currently fulfilling the role of Managing Executive: International and Coastal (Member of BCX Group EXCO), accountable for the Global strategy and Operations. He brings expertise in developing and implementing strategy, operating model development, technology strategy development, revenue growth, business turnaround, performance improvement, change management and target attainment to Nexio
