South Africa’s digital system aggregator and solution provider, Nexio has named former Vodacom Business chief sales officer as its new chief executive officer, turning to an industry veteran to help drive growth.
Unlisted Nexio said in a statement it had appointed Mickey Mashale as its new chief executive, effective August 1.
“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Mickey Mashale as the new Chief Executive Officer of Nexio. Mickey is recognised as one of the industry’s distinguished female business thought leaders,” Nexio Board Chairperson and Vodacom Business CEO, William Mzimba said.
“During her reign as interim acting CEO, Mickey has demonstrated a range of industry experience that has already produced positive results for the company, employees, stakeholders, and its customers.”
Mashale, who has been holding fort as interim acting CEO for the organisation since March this year will be leading a strong team tasked with driving the company’s digital transformation strategy to greater heights.
She joined the organization from Vodacom where she held the position of chief sales officer for Vodacom Business from February 2018.
Previously, the managing executive & head of region for Vodafone Global Enterprise and was responsible for strategy, revenue retention, growth and expansion of Vodafone customers, for the Sub-Saharan Region and brought over 20 years’ experience in the Industry from locally and abroad.
The newly appointed CEO says: “I look forward to taking up the position at such an exciting time where the company is on a digital journey to enable and transform its customer experience as a trusted IT partner for the digital future.”
She is a member of the IoDSA (International Institute of Directors South Africa), an MBA Graduate from Wits Business School who graduated from the University of Natal with a Bachelor of Science and has also obtained a number of diplomas in Telecommunications and Marketing from Wits Business School; P&DM, Institute of Marketing Management, AAA School of Advertising and Varsity College alongside Executive Education from Harvard Business School, INSEAD and London Business School.
