ShowMax is planning to widen its customer base with a new prepaid voucher option available online via FNB’s eBucks Shop. By Staff Writer
ShowMax, the internet-based subscription video on demand service with Africa’s largest collection of TV series and movies is set to expand its customer base with a new prepaid voucher option. eBucks, First National Bank’s rewards programme is the first partner to distribute the vouchers, which is done electronically via the eBucks Shop on FNB’s online banking website.
The vouchers come in one, three, and six-month denominations and can be debited directly from a customer’s account, or paid for using eBucks. Depending on a member’s rewards level, a discount of up to 40% is applicable on the six-month voucher.
A one-month ShowMax voucher costs R99, the three-month voucher is priced at R297, and the six-month voucher is R594 with a discount of up to 40% available at the eBucks Shop.
Plans are also underway to distribute physical vouchers via a number of major retailers, which would be another first for the subscription video on demand industry in South Africa. ShowMax has introduced the voucher solution specifically for the South African market where credit cards are just one of the payment methods commonly used.
“Getting payments right is a key to building your customer base in South Africa, and we’ve had a lot of requests to add additional payment methods. Having multiple voucher options gives ShowMax an advantage over other services,” said Chris Savides, head of payments and partnerships for ShowMax .
The launch of ShowMax vouchers in conjunction with eBucks has been timed to coincide with the festive season, as more and more shoppers go online to find gifts.
Kartik Mistry, Head of FNB Retail & Distribution, said: “We are proud to be the first partner in South Africa to offer ShowMax vouchers as payment. This is such a convenient solution for members and the ability to get a discount of up to 40% adds additional value.”
