Vodacom has launched the YouTube ‘Buy & Get’ promotion which gives customers free YouTube data for simply buying a qualifying 7-day or 30-day data bundle.
For instance, a qualifying 7-day or 30-day 1GB data bundle, will give a customer 500MB YouTube bundle (valid for 7 days) tagged-on for free, whereas a 2GB data bundle at R149 will give a customer a free 1GB YouTube bundle valid for 30 days.
In addition to this YouTube ‘Buy & Get’ promotion, customers are now also able to purchase ‘Double Your Data’ YouTube social bundles, which doubles the value of the social bundle.
With Double Your Data YouTube social bundles, a 1GB YouTube social bundle at R40, gives a customer another 1GB for free (valid for 30 days).
“As the cost of living continues to rise, we want to make sure our customers are able to access online information and services affordably. Our Buy & Get and Double Your Data offerings are giving our customers more when they need it most, so that they can continue to connect to the lifestyle needs that matter the most to them,” says Jorge Mendes, Chief Officer for Consumer Business at Vodacom.
“There’s no doubt that lower mobile data prices are increasing access to the internet, and YouTube is the streaming video platform of choice for those who don’t have access to subscription-based services. With competitive, value-for-money YouTube bundle offerings on the market, Vodacom continues to deliver on its promise to leave no one behind and connect for a better future,” adds Mendes.
According to Ornico’s 2022 South Africa Social Media Landscape Report, published by World Wide Worx, half of the country’s population now uses social media platforms. YouTube continues to reach more South Africans, especially the under-35s, as the Social Media Landscape report reveals that 60 percent of this age group is using YouTube – the most of any segment.
YouTube is the most used video platform on the Vodacom network, and now customers can enjoy more YouTube data – for free – to unlock the power of video content, like learning something new, catching up on the news, or streaming a series.
“YouTube is a powerful tool, particularly for self-learning. It’s no coincidence that almost two-thirds of South Africans under 35 are using this platform. Ornico’s research shows that 67.7 percent of South Africans use the internet for education, and YouTube makes education like online tutorials accessible,” says Mendes.
“By rewarding our customers with free YouTube data bundles, Vodacom is leveraging technology to enable an inclusive digital society, driven by information at its fingertips.”
Double Your Data YouTube social bundles are available exclusively to prepaid and top-up customers, and valid until the end of September. Customers can purchase a data bundle and claim their free YouTube data, or purchase a Double Your Data YouTube social bundle, via the My Vodacom App, VodaPay, or USSD by dialling *135#
