MTN South Africa has entered a groundbreaking partnership with China Telecom and Huawei, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of 5G technology, cloud services, IoT, and AI. This strategic alliance is set to drive innovation and unlock new business opportunities, positioning MTN SA at the forefront of the digital transformation sweeping across industries.

“This MOU will open opportunities for strategic collaboration that could advance MTN offerings in ICT, 5G Business-to-Business solutions, the Cloud, IoT (the Internet of Things), and AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology solutions amongst other services,” Tumi Sekhukhune-Chamayou, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN South Africa explains.

With the combined expertise of these global giants, the partnership aims to enhance connectivity, improve operational efficiencies, and accelerate the adoption of next-generation technologies in the South African market.

“China Telecom is thrilled to announce a landmark strategic cooperation agreement with MTN and Huawei, aimed at accelerating digital transformation and connectivity across Africa,” said Kai Chen, the Executive Vice President of China Telecom Global Limited.

“This partnership unites China Telecom’s global expertise in network solutions with MTN’s expansive regional reach and Huawei’s advanced technology, creating a powerful alliance to drive digital infrastructure development on the continent.

“Together, we will work to provide robust connectivity and innovative solutions, empowering the African market. This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to bridging the digital divide and supporting sustainable economic growth in Africa.”

According to MTN, the MOU which promotes collaboration with China Telecom and Huawei across a broad spectrum of activities will leverage state-of-the-art technologies across the MTN network.

Future customer benefits could include enhanced access to innovative technologies like IoT and AI, new and better products and streamlined services. Offering consumer customers better daily experiences through intelligent and connected solutions.

“For MTN’s business customers, network service improvements could offer new possibilities in smart mining and industrial applications. These network developments will boost the digital transformation of vital economic sectors which rely on robust connectivity to achieve their objectives,” Sekhukhune-Chamayou adds.

Sekhukhune-Chamayou continues that the business benefits and strategic advantages will help create an environment which will strengthen its role as a leader in technological innovation and create a springboard for significant strategic growth.  The collaboration between the parties will open doors to joint initiatives and projects, encourage innovation and unlock new potential revenue channels.

The partnership will also leverage advanced communication technologies central to industry advancement. Simultaneously, MTN can aggressively drive growth in ‘target verticals’, industry-specific markets, and innovative industries.

“By joining forces with two technology giants, MTN is well-positioned through the expanded capabilities to offer diversified and advanced services in a rapidly evolving digital landscape to a broader base of individuals and enterprises. This would position MTN as a strong competitor in South Africa’s telecommunications industry”.  Sekhukhune-Chamayou concludes.
