The country’s third mobile phone operator Cell C, which is likely to be sold by its parent company DUBAI-based Oger Telecom if a good buyer is found, has introduced a promotional offer available on EasyChat prepaid tariff plan that offers customers free data with every R50 recharge. By Gugu Lourie
Cell C is introducing a new prepaid promotion that provides customers with free data with every recharge
“Every recharge of R50 and above will attract 3 X the recharge value in free MegaData on the EasyChat tariff plan,” Cell C said.
The promotion will run from 1 September 2015 to 30 November 2015.
Customers keen on benefiting on the promotion must recharge with a single recharge of R50 or more.
However, the mobile phone operator said that only a single recharge of R50 and above shall receive the promotion benefits.
“Accumulation of recharges shall not apply to the promotion,” said the firm, which is always seeking more ways to attract its customers.
In recent months, Cell C has dangled a whopping R10 000 reward to new customers who ditch contracts with Vodacom and MTN and sign up with South Africa’s third largest mobile service provider – but the unprecedented move raised sustainability questions.
It also teamed-up with Facebook to bring affordable Internet access to consumers through the launch of Facebook’s initiative, Internet.org free basic services in South Africa.
Furthermore, Cell C in its move to attract customers challenged potential subscribers to try its network for free by offering a Cell C Test SIM card pre-loaded with free Cell C airtime.
Cell C said on Tuesday that the customers on the EasyChat plan will still be allowed to purchase EPIC Bundles while benefiting on MegaData.
MegaData benefits are not applicable on the Infinity Prepaid voucher.
“The free MegaData cannot be consumed for any International/Roaming usage,” said Cell C.
However, if a Cell C subscriber recharges with R999, the customer shall receive the Infinity prepaid voucher that include unlimited Any-Net calls, 1000 SMSs and 1GB Data only. 15.
