Entries for the annual MTN Business App of the Year Awards taking place on 13 August in Johannesburg have closed, and an expert panel of judges that is adjudicating the process is evaluating the submissions.
Now in its fourth year, the awards have become the premier event of its kind in South Africa and sees developers from across the country coming up with innovative solutions for some of the socio-economic challenges that we face.
“The quality of the submissions to this year’s event has been nothing short of outstanding. Our panel of judges have a difficult task ahead as the standard keeps increasing as more innovative and ground-breaking technologies are being introduced,” says Mandisa Ntloko, Head of Marketing at MTN Business.
This year, the event also features new categories such as Best Enterprise, Best Enterprise Development, Best Consumer, Best Breakthrough Developer, and Most Innovative that focus on genre instead of platform.
“Our judges will look at a variety of criteria to select the winners. However, the event is focused on creating new opportunities for our local developers to ensure the delivery of a bold new digital world to South African consumers and businesses. And for this reason, all the developers are winners,” adds Ntloko.
Developers were encouraged to submit their best applications in categories such as Best Enterprise, Best Enterprise Development, Best Consumer, Best Breakthrough Developer, Most Innovative and Wild Card. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled for 13 August 2015 in Johannesburg.
