Sedna Africa, a leading systems integrator in industrial connectivity and digital infrastructure, has launched a first-of-its-kind Network Operations Centre (NOC) — a state-of-the-art facility in Johannesburg that enables centralised, real-time monitoring and management of industrial networks across Africa.

This next-generation NOC sets a new benchmark for network visibility and operational control, combining advanced hardware trusted by the US military with Sedna’s proprietary integration capabilities and a strategic partnership with Digi Rock Innovations (DRi).

The Beating Heart of Industrial Operations

Positioned as the nerve centre of Sedna Africa’s operations, the NOC embodies the company’s end-to-end philosophy. From this central hub, engineers now have real-time visibility into networks spanning multiple African countries, integrating live data visualisation for everything from pipeline monitoring to mobile network control.

Crucially, the solutions on display are not simulations. They are production-grade technologies, already deployed and delivering value in the field today.

From Operational Chaos to Actionable Clarity

The NOC’s power lies in its ability to fuse military-grade hardware with a customised visualisation platform, transforming complex, disparate data streams into clear, actionable intelligence.

Key use cases include:

  • Distributed Fibre Sensing: Instant alerts for digging activity, preventing costly cable damage or theft.

  • Heat Detection on Pipelines: Early warning systems to predict failures and mitigate safety risks.

  • Conveyor Belt Condition Monitoring: Reducing downtime through predictive maintenance.

  • Connected Worker Solutions: Enhancing on-site safety and productivity through integrated digital tools.

  • Mobile Private Networks: Real-time monitoring of asset-rich sectors like mining, ports, and energy.

Partnering with Digi Rock Innovations (DRi) is key to this transformation. “What excites us most is bringing order to operational chaos,” says PJ Pieters, MD at DRi. “We make data not just visible, but actionable — in real time, in context, and in the hands of decision-makers.”

Pieters explains that the power of the solution is its ability to combine data from diverse sources—like accounting, operations, and fleet management—into a single user-friendly and efficient environment.

Echoing this sentiment, Sedna’s Fester adds, “Thanks to DRi’s integration capability, we’re turning disjointed datasets into streamlined, real-time insights — and doing so cost-effectively.”

Scaling Innovation Beyond Mining

While renowned for transforming mining operations, Sedna’s ambitions are continent-wide. The company recently secured a landmark contract with Cornelder de Moçambique, deploying a private mobile network at the Port of Beira to enhance safety and efficiency at this critical trade hub.

New opportunities are rapidly emerging in energy distribution, pipelines, and large-scale logistics corridors, positioning Sedna as the partner of choice for modernising Africa’s mission-critical industrial value chains.

Live. Operational. Game-Changing.

Sedna Africa will soon host live demonstrations, allowing clients to experience the NOC’s capabilities firsthand, including live network monitoring, push-to-talk communications, and interactive data dashboards.

“We’re not just talking about concepts — we’re showcasing production-ready technologies in a live, working environment,” says Fester. “This is the future of industrial network monitoring, and we’re making it tangible for our clients.”
