A new ASUS survey reveals that 77% of South African business decision-makers are prepared to adopt AI tools immediately, with more than half already seeing measurable benefits.

The findings highlight a tech-savvy market actively leveraging AI to boost productivity, refine decision-making, and enhance customer experiences.

The data comes from the ASUS 2025 Future of SMBs report, which explores how small and midsize businesses (SMBs) are approaching digital transformation. The results reflect not only enthusiasm for innovation but also growing confidence in AI’s tangible impact.

“There’s real momentum behind AI adoption in South Africa. Instead of holding back, businesses are embracing these tools to solve real challenges and unlock new opportunities,” says Marce Heath, Business Head of Marketing at ASUS South Africa.

South African SMBs Lead in AI Adoption

The survey reveals a market that is both optimistic and strategic about AI:

  • 77% are ready to adopt AI immediately

  • 51% already report clear business benefits

  • 43% expect positive outcomes within 1–2 years

  • 92% believe AI helps retain younger talent

Key advantages cited include improved productivity (76%), better data insights (67%), and faster decision-making (54%). Despite this optimism, businesses remain cautious, prioritizing data security, system maintenance, and staying ahead of emerging tech trends.

These findings align with ASUS’s global white paper, Why SMBs Are Backing AI for Global Growth, which surveyed 32 markets. Worldwide, SMBs are using AI to enter new markets, overcome language barriers, and foster long-term partnerships rather than short-term transactions. Many are opting for controlled, tech-driven growth, with AI and reliable digital infrastructure playing a pivotal role.

ASUS Devices Built for AI-Driven Work

To support this shift, ASUS has developed laptops and desktops tailored for intelligent, connected work. The ASUS Expert P Series combines enterprise-grade security with AI-powered collaboration tools, including real-time translation, automated meeting summaries, transcription, and smart system optimization.

Powered by ASUS AI Expert Meet and Windows 11 Pro, these devices help teams collaborate securely, work efficiently across time zones, and adapt seamlessly to hybrid environments.

“Technology should accelerate growth, not complicate it,” adds Heath. “With our AI-ready devices, we’re equipping South African businesses with practical, secure tools that support how they work today and into the future.”

The ASUS 2025 Future of SMBs report surveyed 101 South African business leaders across industries, including general managers, IT specialists, and procurement professionals. It is part of a broader global study examining how SMBs are adapting to technological change.
