Weaver Fintech, a ldata-driven financial technology company, has announced the impending soft launch of its new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), PJN Mobile, scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.
The strategic move marks a significant step in the group’s evolution from a lending-led business into a comprehensive fintech ecosystem.
“(We) enter the second half of the year with a strong platform for growth,” stated Sean Wibberley, Chief Executive Officer of Weaver FinTech.
“We expect to soft launch PJN Mobile in Q3, a mobile virtual network operator partnership requiring minimal capital that establishes the foundation for rewarding and incentivising customer engagement and loyalty.”
The launch of PJN Mobile is designed to deepen the group’s relationship with its expansive customer base, offering a new avenue for incentivization and retention. This initiative comes as Weaver Fintech reports robust performance across its core business units, including rapid scaling in payments, steady insurance growth, and strong cash generation from receivables.
A Diversified Growth Strategy
Wibberley emphasised that while credit conditions are expected to remain challenging in the near term, management will continue to prioritize the quality of the lending book and disciplined growth.
The group’s increasing diversification – with a growing reliance on fee-based income – provides confidence in its long-term outlook.
Weaver Fintech’s payments business is scaling rapidly, supported by strong customer acquisition and continued momentum in the growing ecosystem.
The company noted the curtailed growth in lending as a deliberate measure to maintain a healthy balance sheet.
Empowering the Digital Consumer
Serving a large and digitally engaged customer base of 5.1 million – a 17% year-on-year increase – Weaver Fintech is strategically positioned to serve the modern South African consumer.
Notably, 70% of these customers are women, and 65% belong to the Millennial or Gen Z demographics. This demographic profile highlights the group’s strong relevance among connected, mobile-savvy consumers who prefer digital channels for their financial services.
Weaver Fintech remains committed to its long-standing mission of improving access to convenient, relevant, and affordable financial solutions, particularly for women who have historically been underserved by traditional banking systems.
By integrating payments, lending, insurance, and now mobile connectivity through PJN Mobile, the group is building a more diversified earnings profile and enhancing customer convenience and engagement.
With a solid foundation and a clear strategic vision, Weaver Fintech is poised to leverage its existing scale to drive growth through deeper product usage and increasing activity across its fee-based income streams.
The upcoming launch of PJN Mobile represents a pivotal moment in the company’s journey to becoming a holistic financial services provider in South Africa.
