The top Grade 12 Matric achiever in Mpumalanga will be given a brand new set of wheels – a Toyota Vitz – when results are announced next week.
“The 2024 provincial overall Grade 12 best learner will be honoured with a full bursary from the provincial government, a generous array of rewards, and a brand new fully sponsored car,” Mpumalanga Education MEC Cathy Dlamini said on Friday, (10 January 2025).
“This is an exceptional recognition of the power of dedication, perseverance, and hard work.
“It demonstrates that with commitment and passion, success is not just a dream – it becomes reality.
“Let this serve as a reminder that excellence is within your reach, and when you strive for greatness, the rewards are limitless.”
Awarding a sponsored car to the best Matric achiever in the province has become a tradition, which plays a vital role in encouraging Matric candidates to work hard and do their best.
The recipient of the car will be revealed during the official announcement ceremony of the provincial results in Middleburg, Mpumalanga on Tuesday, (14 January 2025).

Top Mpumalanga Matric achiever Niandi Coetzee from Hoerskool Nelspruit in Mpumalanga has the keys to a brand new car.
Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane handed over the car on Friday during the Grade 12 results announcement ceremony at the University of Mpumalanga’s main campus in Mbombela.
Deputy Minister of Basic Education Dr. Reginah Mhaule as well as Mpumalanga head of education Lucy Moyane witnessed the hand-over.
Apart from the car and other gifts, Niandi was also awarded a bursary to further her studies at a tertiary institution of choice.
