SASSA KwaMashu Local Office has been temporarily closed until further notice after an official tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Health has been requested to conduct tests on all affected officials (31).

Whilst awaiting results, these officials will be on self-isolation.

SASSA management has arranged for the decontamination of the office concerned.

“Clients are encouraged to use these alternative local offices Phoenix, Inanda or Durban Local Office for all social grants applications or services,” said SASSA.

As of yesterday, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 111 796.

Testing Data

tests have been completed in a total of which 34 122 new tests have been reported.

Reported Deaths and Recoveries
“Regrettably, we report a further 103 COVID-19 related deaths- 15 from Eastern Cape, 25 from Gauteng and 63 from Western Cape. This brings the total deaths to 2205,” said Dr Zweli Mkhize, Health Minister.

“We wish to express our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.”

The mortality rate is 2%

The number of recoveries is 56 874, which translates to a recovery rate of 50,9%
