These days, it is a lot easier to shop for electricity or natural gas plan. Most people use different types of energy in their homes. We have boilers, heaters, and stovetops we use for various applications. There are also appliances that run on natural gas. And in some cases, we may use both. Each day, we consume energy with these appliances. For this reason, it is important to find the best energy deal to spend less and enjoy more.

The Importance Of Switching Energy Suppliers

In most cases, households pay more than they should on energy consumption, most especially when they are under any of the Big Six energy companies like EDF Energy, British Gas, Npower, E.ON, SSE, and Scottish Power. Besides, you don’t need to pay a penny to compare energy prices. Also, the process is fast and simple. In some minutes, you should get results from your energy comparison.

The Process Of Energy Comparison

Whereby you notice that your current energy supplier sends out outrageous bills for energy consumption, then it is time to check out other energy providers out there. So, how do you go about this? Let’s check out the following procedures:

  • Find an online energy consultant – an example being USave.
  • Submit your details, which include postcode, current energy provider, energy consumption rate, and tariff.
  • Select the tariff you want. The energy consultant would provide you with a list of energy suppliers and their tariffs. Choose the supplier with the best deal to complete the process. Within the next three weeks, you will be placed under a new energy provider.
  • Energy new energy tariff. Your new provider will handle the switching process. In most cases, the energy consultant will give you a period of two weeks to reverse the process should you change your mind.

Do I Need To Contact My Current Energy Supplier?

Most energy users get confused when making a switch, as among other things, they do not know if it is necessary to inform their current energy provider about the switch. It is not mandatory that you notify your provider on the changes being made. Also, your access to gas and electricity will not be affected during this period. The new supplier handles the whole process. They will inform you on the exact date the switch will take place. Additionally, your new provider will contact your present provider to notify them about the switch.

Although, you will be required by your new energy provider to submit your current meter reading which will be forwarded to your current supplier, that will, in turn, send you the final bill.

Is It Mandatory To Get Electricity And Gas From The Same Supplier?

This is a question most homeowners ask when seeking the best energy deal. As a matter of fact, you can operate a dual fuel tariff (this is when you get both utilities from the same provider), or purchase each energy from different providers. In most cases, you may spend less buying electricity and gas from the same provider. However, this isn’t always the case. Your energy consumption and requirements determine your tariff. Hence, it is important to carefully compare tariffs when seeking the cheapest deals.
