“We’re very pleased about this,” he told journalists outside the High Court in Johannesburg.
“We’re thrilled.”
His lawyer, Eric Mabuza, said he always believed a judgment in Cliff’s favour was a foregone conclusion.
“We’ve always been confident about the case… this case indicates that everyone is equal before the law.
“It also indicates that human rights are human rights. You do not have black human rights, or white human rights,” said Mabuza.
Judge Caroline Nicholls ordered on Friday morning that Cliff be reinstated as an Idols judge after he was axed for making a comment about free speech in reaction to a racist tweet by KwaZulu-Natal estate agent Penny Sparrow. She also ordered M-Net to pay his legal fees.
The auditions for Idols 2016 are scheduled to start in Durban on Saturday. Cliff said he would hold a media conference on Saturday to respond to the judgment in more detail. – TheJuice
