Mettus Launches Splendi App To Help Young South Africans Manage Their Credit Health

Mettus, a collective of data and analytics businesses that includes credit bureau Xpert Decision Systems (XDS), has launched the Splendi app to help consumers understand their credit profile, build healthier money habits, and approach the year ahead with more confidence rather than more debt.

Splendi is a South African credit wellness platform geared towards younger, digitally active individuals who may be new to credit or juggling multiple small account.

It provides users with free access to their most up-to-date credit information, including an automatically calculated credit score every time they log in.

Consumers can also view their full credit report and use in-app tools to spot errors, dispute incorrect information, and learn how to improve their credit health over time.

“Many young adults are trying to build a financial future in a very tough economy,” says Marosha Pather, HR and Client Service Executive at Mettus.

“They are careful about how they spend, but they often do not have a clear view of how their credit decisions fit together.

“Splendi is designed to give them that visibility in a simple way.

“When you know your credit rating and you understand what is driving it, it becomes easier to make decisions that support your long-term goals.”

Mettus believes that this kind of transparency benefits not only individuals but also the broader credit ecosystem.

When consumers understand how their behaviour affects their credit profile, they are better equipped to avoid over-indebtedness.

The platform also includes Cred-Ed, a library of educational articles.

“Financial wellness starts with knowledge,” says Pather.

“When you know where you stand today, you can plan your next steps with less guesswork and more confidence.

“That matters at any time of the year, even more so in January when cash flow is always tighter than other months.”

Encouraging better habits

The focus is on helping users to:

  • Check their credit report regularly and correct errors.
  • Understand which habits improve or harm their credit score.
  • Plan so that new credit commitments fit into a realistic budget.

“Businesses do not only have a role in selling products, but they also share a responsibility to support financial well-being,” says Pather.

“When consumers use tools like Splendi to check, fix, and manage their credit health, it becomes easier for responsible lenders and service providers to offer the right solutions at the right time.”

Splendi is a product of the Mettus Group and is powered by XDS.

Consumers can register, check their free credit report, and access Cred-Ed resources at www.splendi.co.za.
