MTN Business appointed as a reseller of Samsung KNOX

Samsung Electronics SA announced  on Monday that MTN Business has been appointed as a reseller of Samsung’s KNOX licenses to its customers. Samsung’s security platform complements MTN Business’ suite of enterprise-ready products and services as well as reinforcing the strong strategic relationship between the two companies.

With a growing trend towards Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), where employees are using personal smartphones and tablets in the workplace, enterprises are increasingly cognisant of the need for a security solution that meets modern demands.

The expanded partnership agreement combines Samsung’s pioneering mobile technology and secure Android platform, with MTN Business’ expertise in corporate communication services, to provide customers with defence-grade protection for mobile devices and data.

“We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with MTN Business to offer Samsung KNOX to more customers,” says Paulo Ferreira, Director of Enterprise Mobility at Samsung Electronics SA. “Samsung believes in the power of partnerships and together with MTN Business, we are pushing the boundaries of enterprise solutions to enable more organisations to simply and securely support workforce mobility.”

Samsung KNOX Workspace, which was introduced in SAa in 2014, is designed to systematically fortify Android systems, leveraging the hardware to provide the high level of protection customers require. KNOX addresses two of the major concerns of enterprise mobility customers – security and manageability – by placing all corporate-specific resources in a security-enhanced Android environment, which is controlled and managed by IT administrators. This provides employees with the freedom to conduct their personal tasks in an unmanaged section of the device, while the company is comfortable in knowing that corporate data remains secure.

MTN Business can also provide customers with KNOX Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) Premium – Samsung’s end-to-end solution that gives IT Administrators the ability to manage Android and iOS devices using a cloud-based dashboard. This solution allows IT Administrators to satisfy enterprise security requirements without compromising employee privacy – perfect for BYOD and Corporately Owned / Personally Enabled (COPE) devices.

“MTN is pleased to have partnered with Samsung to provide this ground-breaking solution, which addresses our customers’ enterprise mobile security concerns. Furthermore, it enables us to entrench our foothold in the markets in which we operate and provides an opportunity to add value to corporate customers. Security is increasingly becoming of paramount concern to enterprises and we are pleased that we are in a position to provide a secure mobile security platform from Samsung to our customers,” says Alpheus Mangale, Chief Enterprise Officer: MTN SA.

As a reseller, MTN Business’s enterprise customers will be offered the enhanced security capabilities of KNOX on a wide range of Samsung Galaxy devices including: S6, S6 edge, Galaxy S5, S5 Mini, S4, S4 Mini, Note Pro, Note 4, Note 3, Note 10.1 (2014), Tab S, Tab Active, A3 and A5.
