In a recorded address to Huawei South Africa Connect 2025, President Cyril Ramaphosa highlighted the company’s critical contributions to national development through technology.
“We are living in a time of rapid technological change,” he noted, emphasizing how digital innovation is reshaping lives, work, and interactions across South Africa.
The President emphasised Huawei’s longstanding partnership with the nation, particularly in expanding rural connectivity via its Digital Village Initiative and upskilling youth through the Huawei ICT Academy.
“Huawei work is improving productivity and service delivery, while also helping to create jobs and to prepare our youth for the future,” he stated.
Huawei’s solutions have transformed key sectors, including government services, transport, energy, and finance, while supporting healthcare, education, logistics, and mining through AI, cloud computing, and smart connectivity. These advancements address systemic challenges and unlock growth opportunities.
Ramaphosa praised the conference as a platform to strengthen partnerships and advance a “connected, inclusive, and prosperous South Africa.” He thanked Huawei for fostering innovation, stating, “This is a space where innovation truly shapes the future.”
The event being held in Sandton, Johannesburg attended by 4000 people brought together stakeholders to collaborate on harnessing technology for equitable progress, reflecting Huawei’s commitment to long-term socio-economic impact.
