The Volvo EX30 continues to dominate South Africa’s premium EV market, while the newly launched EX90 elevates luxury electric driving.

With strong demand for sustainable mobility, Volvo Car South Africa reported impressive sales figures for the first four months of 2025.

Volvo’s Electric Vehicle Sales Performance

Between January and April 2025, Volvo delivered 114 electric vehicles to South African customers. Leading the charge was the EX30, with 48 units sold, reinforcing its status as the country’s favourite premium EV.

The EX90, Volvo’s flagship electric SUV, made a strong debut with 30 units sold, securing fifth place in SA’s top-selling EV rankings.

The XC40 and C40 Recharge models also performed well, combining for 36 sales, further solidifying Volvo’s leadership in the local EV market. In 2024, Volvo was South Africa’s top-selling electric vehicle brand, with 539 units sold.

Affordable Ownership & Exclusive Incentives

Volvo’s Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) program makes EV ownership more accessible. The EX30 starts at just R9,999 per month, with a secured trade-in value after 48 months.

Additionally, Volvo offers:

  • Free home wall box charger

  • R7,500 installation contribution

  • R12,000 public charging voucher

  • 10GB in-car data monthly (3 years)

Growing EV Interest in South Africa

Felipe Yagi, Head of Marketing & Communications at Volvo Car South Africa, said: “The strong demand for our EVs, especially the EX30, reflects growing interest in premium electric mobility. The EX90’s arrival shows drivers are embracing new possibilities in sustainable luxury.”

Volvo plans to expand its electric lineup in 2025 with the EX30 Cross Country and the luxury ES90 sedan. With a broader range of EVs, Volvo aims to maintain its leadership in South Africa’s premium electric vehicle market.

Volvo’s success in South Africa highlights the rising demand for premium, sustainable mobility. With competitive pricing, innovative ownership models, and expanding EV options, Volvo is driving the future of electric driving in SA.
