Well-known South African technology entrepreneur Reshaad Sha is leading a management buyout of Altron Nexus from JSE-listed Altron Group, with the company set to be rebranded as Sentiv.

The transaction, still subject to conditions, is expected to close by end June 2025.

A New Chapter: Sentiv Emerges

The name Sentiv – a blend of “sentient” and “intuitive” – reflects the company’s evolution into a platform-led business focused on real-time insights, adaptive connectivity, and predictive intelligence.

Louis Du Toit, the current Managing Director of Altron Nexus, will become CEO of Sentiv, while Reshaad Sha takes on the role of Executive Chairman.

Together, they aim to transform Sentiv into a future-ready technology provider specializing in mission-critical communications and Industrial IoT solutions.

Altron Nexus has been a market leader in critical communications infrastructure for over 55 years, supporting police services, emergency responders, and industrial operations across South Africa.

Reshaad Sha, Executive Chairman of Sentiv, said: “Altron Nexus, now rebranded as Sentiv, has played a pivotal role in shaping South Africa’s mission-critical communications landscape for over half a century.

“From supporting the communications needs of police services and emergency responders to enabling disaster management and industrial operations, its legacy is deeply entrenched in the nation’s infrastructure. It’s a privilege to lead a company with such a proud heritage.

” I would like to thank the Altron Group for their support and partnership with Louis and me in this buyout.”

Altron’s Role & Future Vision

The Altron Group, which has overseen the business for over four decades, facilitated its growth while maintaining a focus on secure, reliable communications infrastructure.

With this buyout, Sentiv is poised to expand its offerings in intelligent, context-aware solutions, reinforcing its position as a leader in mission-critical connectivity.

The deal marks a significant shift in South Africa’s tech landscape, with Sha and Du Toit steering the company toward next-generation innovations. This move signals a new era for South Africa’s critical communications sector, with Sentiv positioned to lead in smart, adaptive connectivity solutions.
