Naspers has announced the unanimous approval by the boards of Naspers and Prosus to appoint Nico Marais (51) as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for both Prosus and Naspers Group, effective immediately.

With over 25 years of financial management experience within the Group, including his role as interim CFO since December 2024, Marais brings deep expertise to the position.

A Track Record of Strategic Leadership

Marais previously served as General Manager of Finance, where he played a key role in major initiatives such as:

  • The successful listing of Prosus

  • Unwinding cross-holdings

  • Executing open-ended share repurchases

  • Leading Prosus’ debt capital market activities

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Marais holds an accounting degree from Stellenbosch University.

Board Appointments

He joins the Naspers board as financial director immediately and will join the Prosus board after shareholder approval at the August 2025 AGM.

Leadership Endorsement

Koos Bekker, Prosus and Naspers chair, stated: “On behalf of the Boards of Prosus and Naspers, I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Nico as Group CFO on a permanent basis. He brings invaluable expertise and experience to the role, which he has built up over more than two decades with the Group. The strong working relationship he has developed with our CEO Fabricio Bloisi puts us in good stead as we look ahead with excitement to the next phase of our growth journey.”

Remuneration Disclosure

Marais’ compensation details will be published in Naspers’ 2025 integrated annual report, expected around 23 June 2025.

This strategic appointment reinforces Naspers’ commitment to strong financial governance as it continues its growth trajectory.
