Volvo Car South Africa is introducing an exclusive offer to make electric vehicle (EV) ownership more convenient and accessible. As the country’s leading EV brand, Volvo is providing new EV buyers with two years of free public charging, a GridCars wallbox with installation support, and 10 GB of Vodacom data per month for three years.
Two years of free public charging
New Volvo EV owners will receive a charging voucher worth R12,000, linked to the GridCars charge card, valid for 24 months.
“South African motorists have shown they’re ready for electric motoring, as demonstrated by the strong sales of Volvo electric vehicles in South Africa,” said Markus Cromwell, Head of Commercial at Volvo Car South Africa. “In 2024, Volvo sold 539 electric vehicles, and we aim to continue attracting drivers with this exceptional offer, making the transition to electric motoring even easier.”
Home charging with a GridCars Wallbox
To simplify home charging, Volvo is offering an installation allowance of R7,500 towards a GridCars wallbox. This solution enables significantly faster charging compared to a standard household plug, ensuring quicker battery replenishment. The wallbox also comes with a two-year warranty covering parts and installation.

Seamless connectivity for three years
Volvo EV owners will enjoy uninterrupted connectivity with a Wi-Fi dongle and 10 GB of Vodacom data per month for 36 months. This allows drivers and passengers to take full advantage of Volvo’s built-in Google apps and services, including Google Maps and YouTube, for seamless navigation and entertainment.
Volvo’s expanding electric line-up
Volvo’s all-electric range includes the popular EX30, XC40 Recharge, and C40 Recharge—each catering to different EV needs. The EX30, one of South Africa’s most affordable electric vehicles, offers a range of up to 476 km and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, depending on the drivetrain.
Volvo will soon expand its lineup with the highly anticipated EX90, the safest vehicle the brand has ever built.
