Pick n Pay has announced the recall of three peanut butter brands – No Name Smooth Peanut Butter, Eden Smooth Peanut Butter, and Eden Crunch Peanut Butter.
Pick n Pay said on Saturday that all affected products had been promptly removed from store shelves.
“The recall is specifically for products with an expiry date falling between the present and July 2025,” Pick n Pay said.
“Customers are encouraged to return any such products to Pick n Pay for a full refund.
“Additionally, the recall extends to products irrespective of their expiry date or whether they have been opened, reflecting the company’s dedication to addressing customer concerns comprehensively.”
Pick n Pay said the decision to recall these products follows internal standard testing, revealing elevated levels of Aflatoxin, a naturally occurring mycotoxin, surpassing regulatory thresholds.
Acknowledging the severity of this finding, Pick n Pay said it has initiated collaboration with the National Consumer Commission and the National Department of Health, Directorate Food Control.
Pick n Pay urged customers to diligently inspect their pantries and food cupboards, returning the affected products to any Pick n Pay store for a full refund.
For further assistance or inquiries, customers can reach out to Pick n Pay’s Customer Care Line at 0860 303 030.
Pick n Pay said it reaffirms its unwavering commitment to customer safety and transparency, assuring that no other peanut butter brands within their range are implicated in this recall.
