Disney+ is coming to South Africa to compete with rivals Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Showmax and DStv Now.
The streaming service from The Walt Disney Company, confirmed that this winter it will launch in 42 countries and 11 new territories*. New countries include South Africa, Turkey, Poland and the United Arab Emirates.
With exclusive original content and thousands of episodes and movies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and general entertainment from Star, Disney+ is the streaming home for some of the world’s most beloved stories.

There have been major shifts in the South African subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) market, especially among the larger players.
During Q3 2021, Amazon Prime Video increased its market share by 3%, from 25% to 28%. Netflix and Mubi both decreased by 1% over the last quarter.
