Telkom announced today, the appointment of Serame Taukobong as Group CEO Designate with effect from 01 October 2021. Making the announcement, Sello Moloko, Chairperson of Telkom said the organisation was pleased that its extensive search process confirmed the calibre of Telkom’s people.
“Serame is a seasoned executive, with deep experience in the ITC sector in South African and the continent.
“His appointment of Serame ensures continuity of our value unlock strategy,” said Moloko.
Serame will assume the role of Group CEO following Sipho Maseko’s official exit on 30 June 2022.
Commenting on his appointment, Taukobong said having worked under Maseko’s leadership for 3 years; I know I will be taking over a solid business with a capable & committed team.
“The team and I are conscious of the challenges that lie ahead and are committed to attracting and retaining the best people, winning in the market place and delivering value for shareholders,” he concluded.

SERAME Taukobong, the brains behind Telkom Mobile’s revival, is carving up a spot as a future boss for the telco.
Sipho Maseko, the current CEO of Telkom, is not likely to go anywhere soon. But one day he will need to pass on the telco’s reins.
Growth engine for Telkom
Taukobong runs Telkom Consumer Business, an internet service, and converged communications services provider offering fixed and mobile broadband solutions. This business unit is the growth engine for Telkom.
Under Taukobong’s leadership, Telkom Consumer Business, which also include Telkom Mobile, is moving towards being more reliable.
