Remote and blended learning during the pandemic spurred growth even further, but according to Snapplify, the EdTech company was seeing business expansion long before COVID-19.
Snapplify is a global EdTech company that specialises in enabling digital learning for individuals and institutions (B2C). It also has the capacity to provide other education businesses with software solutions to assist in expanding their businesses even further (B2B).
“Towards the end of 2018, we launched our freemium offering for our e-learning platform, Snapplify Engage. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with hundreds of new registrations each day from schools across Africa,” enthuses Wesley Lynch, founder and CEO of the global e-book aggregator, Snapplify.
“This massive increase in adoption, coupled with our aggressive expansion into new regions, meant that we needed more resilient architecture.”
It was AWS’s dev-centric approach that appealed to Snapplify’s product team.
“We also like the style and approach that AWS applies in valuing the human side of the business, as well as the technology aspect,” Lynch adds.
Dev centric culture is about putting the developer in the middle and creating a support circle around him to enable the developer to create the product you need. In a Dev Centric culture, the developer is responsible throughout the product lifecycle, from product definition to maintaining it in production.
“Initially, the migration was slow, but as we adopted a cloud-first approach, we were able to accelerate our adoption,” he explains. “There was a big shift to AWS Redshift for our data analytics processing, Snapplify Insights was receiving millions of data points a day, and Redshift helps us analyse this data.”
AWS products used by Snapplify include S3, EC2, Redshift, SQS, and Aurora DB.
Snapplify is a high-growth EdTech scale-up, and its solutions need to scale to meet growing needs. “AWS has enabled us to achieve this so we can focus on our product with confidence,” states Lynch.
AWS has also enabled Snapplify to enhance its online performance through significant speed improvements, especially in two key areas: Performance for data analysis and its enterprise content management performance in high-load applications.
“Through AWS, we can offer world-class tools and excellent support,” Lynch enthuses, “which sets us apart in the EdTech industry.”
Snapplify supplies other businesses with infrastructure for application and provides reliable education solutions for educational institutions in both the public and private sectors.
“With cloud partners like AWS, we are able to now focus on the products and not the architecture,” he concludes.
