Long-time Vodacom customer Rilwelani Mmbooi, a 27-year-old mother from Limpopo, has been announced as the second grand prize winner of Vodacom’s ShakeOff 2020 campaign, driving home in a brand-new Mini Cooper.

Mmbooi, an avid fan of Vodacom’s promotional competitions, would use the USSD (*133# or *135#) channel to access the ShakeOff Summer menu and play with the hopes of winning free data, never expecting that she would one day be a grand prize winner.

Since the 2019 Shake!Up campaign, Mmbooi has been shaking daily and recently moved from shaking on USSD to the My Vodacom App, where she could see all the grand prize albums she had unlocked, leading her to the grand prize of a brand-new Mini Cooper, exclusively available to customers shaking on the My Vodacom App.

This will be Mmbooi’s first car and represents a beacon of hope as we begin a year filled with uncertainty.

When asked how she felt about winning, Mmbooi expressed how overwhelmed she felt when she received the exciting news, but was sad she was unable to share this important milestone with her mother, who had recently passed away.

Coming from a tight-knit family, Mmbooi holds her son, two brothers and sister very close to heart and believes that winning this prize will have a positive impact on all their lives.

Before her win, Mmbooi says that she was accustomed to hiring cars and calling for assistance in times of need.

Her grand prize of a Mini Cooper will not only be able to help her and her immediate family but will allow her to assist those in her community in these times of difficulty.

Mmbooi claims her key to success was embracing the element of fun that comes with the competition and encourages all Vodacom customers to participate.

“You are rewarded for taking part, that’s always good to remember. It is also just a game and you never know when your luck will strike,” says Mmbooi.

The Vodacom 2020 ShakeOff campaign leverages the VodaBucks Rewards Programme, which rewards customers for doing the things they already do. Customers are encouraged to keep Shaking, Earning, Banking and Spending their VodaBucks in the VodaBucks Store throughout the campaign.

Since launching in November 2020, Vodacom’s Summer ShakeOff campaign has rewarded customers with R3.58 million in cash prize money, two Mini Cooper three-door hatchbacks, as well as tons more prizes.
