South African Airways (SAA) has put an immediate stop to the spending of all Voyager Miles – even for non-air rewards.
“The ability to earn Miles, through our various Voyager programme partners, will continue as normal,” SAA said in a note to Voyager Miles customers.
The redemptions of miles will be paused for another month until 31 August 2020, said SAA.
“You will therefore not be able to redeem your Miles for awards until after 31 August 2020”.
SAA said it was aware that its members were eager to receive their membership credentials reflecting the new expiry date of their tier status.
“A digital Voyager membership card, in compliance with the Star Alliance requirements to access eligible Star Alliance lounges worldwide, is currently in development,” explains SAA.
“Your digital Voyager membership card will be available on the Voyager mobile app in due course. We will communicate via e-mail and SMS once you are able to activate your digital Voyager membership card.”
Global aviation restart
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has done a lot of work to restore confidence in flying.
The three global airline alliances – Star Alliance, oneworld and Skyteam – have collaborated to produce a video advising what a customer’s journey is going to be like when travel restrictions are lifted.
