Meet the new BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition.
Both powerhouses possess a high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, resulting in a power increase over their respective predecessors of 37 kW for both the BMW X5 M Competition and the BMW X6 M Competition.
This sees both the BMW X5 M Competition and the BMW X6 M Competition boasting 460 kW of power (at 6 000 rpm) and a maximum torque of 750 Nm between 1800 – 5600 rpm.
Both the BMW X5 M Competition and the BMW X6 M Competition accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds – up to 0.4 seconds faster than their predecessors.
BMW M in South Africa
South Africa has a rich history with BMW M vehicles. This ranges from what locals consider to be the predecessor to all M cars – the South African built BMW MLE 530 – to the South Africa specific M5 Pure Metal Edition (F10).
To attest to local customers’ insatiable appetite for “The most powerful letter in the world”, the South African market sold the third most M cars in the world, compared to overall sales figures. This was for the year 2019.
South Africa also hosted the biggest BMW M Festival in the world in 2017, attracting just under 20 000 fans.
