The application for leave to appeal by Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, against the judgment granted by Justice Norman Davis on 2 June 2020 in the Reyno De Beer and Liberty Fighters Network (LFN) case declaring the lockdown Regulations as unconstitutional and invalid will be heard at the Gauteng Division High Court today.

Dlamini Zuma, is adamant to defend Government against the Court’s declaration of unconstitutionality and invalidity of the lockdown regulations by having called heavyweight Advocate Wim Trengove SC for State duty in her application for leave to appeal.

Trengove is generally known as one of the best advocates in the country having represented former President Nelson Mandela and even President Cyril Ramaphosa on occasions.

“Although LFN respects Trengove as a well-known legal expert to many, it doesn’t feel intimidated by this sudden move of Dlamini Zuma and have also pulled in the assistance of Advocate Reg Willis CS to represent LFN who is also known as a good fighter in Court,” LFN President Reyno De Beer, said in a statement published in the organisations’ website.

De Beer will appear again in person as an ordinary citizen without any formal legal qualifications.

“It is imperative for De Beer to continue representing himself as he wants to show the people on grassroots level that the people don’t need the luxury of an expensive legal team to get justice in South Africa and that the Constitution remains the supreme law of the land,” reads the statement.

LFN believes that Dlamini Zuma should make peace with the fact that her reign as the Lockdown dictator will come to an end very soon and will be remembered as the one in charge who has led Government during its 3 months of human rights violations and tyranny against the people.

Earlier this week, De Beer and LFN said that they are ready to face the minister in the second round and have opted to keep it straight and simple and will see what “the cat is going to drag in”.

De Beer said that due to its overwhelming support and numerous requests, LFN is busy setting up structures in the Western Cape, KZN and Eastern Cape adding to the already functioning Gauteng support and will ensure that their main goal will be to make the government realise that the people are governing and that government is at the mercy of the people to manage and administer our country in line with the constitution and to benefit all who lives in it and not only benefit a handful of Rupert and Oppenheimer Family supporters.
