On the mortality rate, Mkhize says more work needs to be done to ensure a strong impact on the infection.  Minister says conditions like obesity have an effect on the mortality rate.

Mkhize said 185,497 tests have been conducted at this stage.

There had also been 2,073 recoveries.

“People need to understand the message of staying at home, the message of sanitizing plus wearing masks,” says Mkhize.

He added that South Africa had not seen a rapid rise in infection in a way that it had done at the beginning of the outbreak. Parts of the country have been affected differently.
