MTN customers will now have the convenience and flexibility to replenish depleted airtime and data bundles when they don’t have cash, thanks to the launch of MTN Xtra Time, a service that allows customers to receive an airtime advance when they run low on balance. By Staff writer

MTN Xtra Time will be available to Prepaid and TopUp customers, and the borrowed credit can be used like a normal recharge to make voice calls, purchase data or SMS bundles, access value added services of transfer airtime to another subscriber.

The borrowed airtime is recovered when the customer tops up their account, and the credit owed is debited from the airtime purchased.

To access this service, MTN subscribers should log on to www.mtn.co.za, or dial the USSD short code, 1412#, and the system will credit score them to ascertain their eligibility.

Customers with unsettled advances are barred from using the service until the previous advance is fully repaid. In cases where airtime credit is still outstanding, the customer is advised of their debt status and requested to settle their previous advance before they can qualify for advance airtime.

“MTN Xtra Time is a service that ensures that customers can always be connected even when they have run out of airtime and do not have the possibility to recharge. It provides customers with convenience and the flexibility of staying connected all the time,”  says Larry Annetts, Chief Consumer Officer: MTN SA:
