Vodacom has appointed award winning actress Katlego Danke, who is well known for her role as Dineo Mashaba in the SABC drama Generations, as Vodacom’s own Dr. Yebo, the data guru.
The appointment of Danke is effective from the 13th March 2016.
Today, the mobile phone operator will unveil a data education campaign that is aimed at helping customers to manage their data usage better.
Championing the cause for cost effective data usage is Danke, who will tackle data related topics through a 13th part data educational series, which will be broadcasted across all SABC TV channels, ETV and DStv.
Vodacom said the main objective of this campaign is to increase awareness about how data works and why it is different to airtime, what exactly are customers paying for and how best to efficiently use data so that they can continue to have access to the internet without the worry of a high bill at the end of the month.
“With the campaign and Dr. Yebo, Vodacom is taking an active role in educating, empowering and equipping customers, so that they are always in control of their mobile spend,” the company said.
