Some people have questioned the relevance of having brick and mortar retail stores in this connected world, but the reality is that South Africans still rely heavily on experiencing products first-hand, especially high-end technology ones, before making a purchasing decision.

Most of these are records of births, marriages, deaths, ID applications, naturalisation and permitting and date back to the late 1800. These include 110 million birth records, which carry records of generations that can be used to construct family trees.

South Africa has made some progress in fixing problems identified by ratings agencies. But there are a number of outstanding issues that might mean the country is given ‘junk’ status.
