The privacy service used by more than three million people introduces a permanent identity layer combining a private number, alias email, virtual cards, password manager and VPN

Quackr, the virtual number service used by more than three million people, has launched Quackr ID, a subscription that replaces the personal details people hand to websites with permanent aliases rather than disposable ones.
The company built its business on numbers customers use once and abandon, usually to receive a single verification code. Quackr ID inverts that model. It issues a private phone number, an alias email address, virtual payment cards and a password manager under one account, all intended to be kept indefinitely.
The shift follows a pattern in how customers were already using the product. A disposable number solves one signup. It does nothing about the accumulation of real details across dozens of accounts, where a single breached database exposes an email and password combination reused everywhere else.
Under Quackr ID, each service a customer signs up for receives its own set of aliases. The password manager holds them together, so searching for a retailer returns the alias email, number, card and login used with it. Alias emails forward to the real inbox and can be replied to without exposing it. A card can be given a monthly spending limit or shut off outright, and when an alias starts receiving spam the customer can see which company sold it.
Quackr ID is priced at $9.99 a month or $79 a year. Each component remains available on its own, and buying the equivalent set separately comes to $20.97 a month, according to quackr.io/id/pricing.
“We built the business on numbers people throw away,” a spokesperson for Quackr said. “The awkward thing we kept hearing was that customers wanted the opposite. One identity they could keep, and still never hand over the real one. Building that on infrastructure designed to recycle numbers took a good deal longer than launching another disposable product would have.”
Quackr ID is available now on the web, on Android, and as browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, with an iOS app to follow. Private numbers are currently issued in five countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Hong Kong. Card and VPN coverage extends across more than 190 countries.
