McDonald’s South Africa has officially opened its newest restaurant at Corllet Drive on Friday, 19 June 2026 and it’s about much more than burgers and fries. The new establishment represents a significant investment in people, skills development, and the future of the nation.
With South Africa grappling with persistently high youth unemployment, the Corllet Drive Restaurant is creating sustainable job opportunities for young people, equipping them with valuable skills and work experience while contributing to the growth of Gauteng’s economy and the broader national landscape.
“This establishment is more than just a place to enjoy delicious feel good moments, it represents an investment in people and the future of South Africa,” said McDonald’s South Africa.
“With the country facing high youth unemployment, Corllet Drive Restaurant is creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people, empowering them with skills and experience while contributing to the growth of Gauteng’s economy and South Africa as a whole.”
A Legacy of Opportunity
Since opening its first South African restaurant in November 1995, McDonald’s has grown to operate close to 400 restaurants across nine provinces. But the company’s impact extends far beyond its footprint.
McDonald’s is globally renowned for its comprehensive training programs, and South Africa is no exception.
To date, the company has trained and employed over 12,000 South Africans at various levels – including franchisees, restaurant managers, and crew members – creating a pipeline of opportunity in the hospitality and quick-service restaurant sectors.
Local Commitment, Global Standards
More than 80% of all food served in McDonald’s South Africa restaurants is produced by local suppliers, all meeting the company’s stringent quality standards. Additionally, all restaurants across the country are approved by the Muslim Judicial Council Halaal Trust, ensuring inclusivity for all South Africans.
