With just a month to go, excitement is building around one of the continent’s most anticipated celebrations of innovation. EPF Tech Week 2025 (13–17 October) will set the stage for the 3rd Annual EPF Tech Awards, scheduled to take place on 25 October 2025 at the prestigious Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Together, these events will showcase how locally built technologies can achieve global impact.

From its headquarters at 35 Ferguson Road, Illovo, Sandton, and online, the Empire Partner Foundation (EPF) will host a dynamic week of dialogue, discovery, and collaboration. Designed as a build-up to the Awards, Tech Week will give participants an inside look at the innovations and stories that will be celebrated later in the month.

“The EPF Tech Awards aren’t just about recognising success, they’re about showcasing the creativity behind locally built technologies with the potential to scale globally,” said Joanna Govender, CEO of EPF. “We’re shining a spotlight on African innovation that is ready to compete and win on the world stage.”

A Week of Ideas and Impact

EPF Tech Week promises an inspiring line-up:

  • AI & Data Innovation Day: exploring ethical AI, predictive health, and smarter systems.
  • Digital Education Day: highlighting edtech solutions transforming classrooms.
  • Governance & Compliance Tech: showcasing civic-tech tools improving access to public services.
  • Community Engagement Platforms: spotlighting apps and platforms that strengthen social bonds.
  • Startups & Tech Visionaries: featuring EPF’s DSTI talent building the tools of tomorrow.

Across its 10-year journey, EPF has trained more than 12,000 youth in 19 African countries, supported over 400 township microenterprises, and hosted 40+ hackathons, proving how purpose-driven innovation can shape inclusive economies.

As Africa’s tech community prepares for October, EPF invites innovators, media, and the public to follow the conversation online using #EPFTechAwards and register to attend Tech Week in person or virtually.
