The Democratic Alliance (DA) can confirm that the criminal complaint it lodged against ANC Minister Nobuhle Nkabane is now under investigation by the Priority Crimes Investigation Unit, the Hawks. This development marks a critical step in holding the ANC accountable for systemic corruption.
Karabo Khakhau MP, DA National Spokesperson and Member of the Committee on Higher Education and Training, stated: “The DA welcomes the Hawks’ decision to investigate Nkabane’s alleged fraud and statutory offences. While President Ramaphosa turns a blind eye to ANC corruption, the DA is ensuring that no one is above the law. This investigation is a victory for accountability and justice.”
The DA has long argued that President Ramaphosa’s inaction emboldens corrupt officials. Despite mounting evidence, Ramaphosa has refused to dismiss Nkabane, suspended Public Service and Administration Minister Sindisiwe Simelane, or other ANC figures implicated in graft.
The SETA Scandal and Lies to Parliament
Nkabane faces serious allegations of orchestrating a scheme to deploy senior ANC loyalists – including relatives of ANC Chair Gwede Mantashe and former KwaZulu-Natal Premier – to lucrative SETA board positions. When exposed, she allegedly lied to Parliament to conceal the misconduct.
DA Pledges Continued Cooperation
The DA vows to assist the Hawks in uncovering the full extent of Nkabane’s alleged crimes. As the investigation unfolds, the party will provide updates and push for consequences against those who exploit public office for ANC patronage.
“The DA will not relent until justice is served,” Khakhau added. “South Africans deserve leaders who serve the people, not the ANC’s corrupt networks.”
