In a major step toward bridging the justice gap, the Empire Partner Foundation (EPF) has developed a cutting-edge digital case management solution for ProBono.Org. This innovation is set to revolutionise how legal assistance is delivered, making justice more accessible to those who need it most.

The newly developed platform streamlines ProBono.Org’s operations, enhancing case management, improving client tracking, and enabling real-time oversight of legal assistance.

By digitising case handling, the system empowers ProBono.Org to expand its reach, tackling systemic barriers and providing critical legal support to underserved communities.

Joanna Govender, CEO of EPF, emphasises the impact of this technological advancement:

“Access to justice is a fundamental human right, and technology can be a powerful enabler in breaking down barriers. Through this solution, we aim to support ProBono.Org’s mission of making legal services accessible to all, regardless of their socioeconomic status.”

Established in 2006, ProBono.Org serves as a clearing house, connecting indigent and vulnerable individuals with legal practitioners for civil matter, including, but not limited to divorces, deceased estate disputes, and labour related matters. This model, unique to South Africa, has enabled thousands to receive legal advice or have their matters heard in a court of law, reinforcing the organisation’s mission to ensure justice for all.

Adv Mohamed Shafie Ameermia, National Director of ProBono.Org, highlighted the significance of this partnership: “This partnership with EPF represents a new chapter for ProBono.Org. The digital platform will significantly enhance our ability to connect those in need with the legal support they deserve, making justice more inclusive and impactful.”

The launch of this digital solution aligns with EPF’s broader mission to drive innovation for social good, particularly in legal tech. It also cements EPF’s commitment to collaborating with organizations championing social justice, ensuring that technology serves humanity’s most critical needs.

In an exciting move to modernise charitable giving, PayPoint, in partnership with the SPCA, is replacing outdated cash collection tins with a secure, seamless, and efficient digital donation platform. This innovative solution ensures no more lost or stolen donations, making it easier than ever to support animal rescue, shelter, and care.

“We’re thrilled to announce that PayPoint, one of our standout portfolio companies, is making a paws-itive impact with its cutting-edge donation technology,” says EPF Tech Fund, a black-led venture builder focused on driving tech innovation across Africa.

PayPoint, a FinTech leader specialising in advanced payment solutions, has teamed up with the SPCA, a global non-profit organisation dedicated to animal welfare.

In South Africa, the NSPCA has been protecting animals since 1955, relying entirely on donations to fund its vital work.

This partnership means more wagging tails, more second chances, and more love for animals in need.

“By digitising donations, we’re ensuring every contribution goes directly to helping animals,” says EPF Tech Fund.

“Together, we’re driving innovation that creates real, meaningful change.”
