How EngageMX Helps Doctors Keep Patients On Track With Health Screenings And Check-Ups

“As busy doctors, we don’t have time to analyse every single patients file every day,” Dr Ozynsky points out. “We have too many poorly controlled chronic patients and not enough screening.” This is the challenge that he and Altron HealthTech set out to solve with EngageMX, and doctors who use it say the approach is working.

During Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer Awareness Months, we’re reminded how important early detection and regular screenings are. But for healthcare providers, keeping patients on track with these critical check-ups can be challenging. EngageMX, powered by Altron HealthTech, is helping to solve this problem by connecting doctors and patients more effectively.

EngageMX is a digital health tool developed in South Africa by Dr. Benji Ozynski, with input from cancer experts Professor Carol-Anne Benn and Professor Jeffrey Wing. Since launching, the platform has made a real difference, helping doctors increase screenings.

Since its launch two years ago, it has proven a hit with both doctors and patients. Over 250,000 patients have been processed on the EngageMX platform, leading to a 37% increase in screenings and a 25% decrease in chronic disease complications.

How EngageMX works for patients and providers

EngageMX connects data from doctor visits, pharmacies, and lab tests to create a unique health profile for each patient. This profile lets the system identify who might need a cancer screening, a chronic disease check-up, or other follow-up care. Patients get reminders from their doctors to book important tests, like mammograms or prostate screenings, which helps them stay on top of their health.

“As busy doctors, we don’t have time to check every patient’s file every day,” explains Dr. Ozynski. “We have many patients with chronic issues who need regular check-ups, and EngageMX helps us make that happen.”

Dr. Dean Alon Sevel, who’s been using EngageMX for over a year, says, “It has greatly increased follow-ups and review consultations. My patients feel cared for and included in managing their health.”

Dr. Melinda Whitfield, Director of Health with Heart, has seen a similar impact. “By proactively reaching out to patients for necessary healthcare, the system has increased patient engagement and adherence to healthcare protocols. This has led to better health outcomes and fewer missed appointments.”

Built by Doctors, for Doctors

EngageMX was designed with real-life doctor needs in mind. Dr. Ozynski and his team wanted a tool that would support doctors without adding more paperwork or admin time. EngageMX allows doctors to give personalized, preventive care to each patient without needing to track every file.

After two years on the market, EngageMX is proving it can take some pressure off doctors by using data to identify who needs care. Instead of waiting for symptoms, the system prompts patients to act early, helping to catch conditions sooner and improve health outcomes.

Dr. Sevel has noticed a change in his patients’ attitudes too. “I’ve had fewer patients missing follow-ups, and my productivity has gone up,” he says. “When we reach out directly, they feel we genuinely care about their health.”

This November, as we focus on cancer awareness, EngageMX shows that early action saves lives. This proactive model, where technology and the human touch come together, is the future of healthcare.
