Eskom has declared a scheduled power outage in Zonkizizwe, Gauteng, in order to facilitate necessary maintenance on the distribution network.
Zonkizizwe is in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
“Eskom would like to inform customers in Zonkizizwe of an electreicity supply interruption due to maintenance to be conducted on the distribution network,” said the company in post on X.
Eskom added that the outages will affect customers in Zonkizizwe Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and Nkanini on Tuesday, 23 Januray 2023, from 09h00 to 18h00.
“The interruption in electricity supply is necessary to perform maintenance on our distribution power lines,” said the company.
““In the interest of safety customers are advised to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power supply outage.”

Eskom today announced that Mr Dan Marokane will assume office as the Group Chief Executive on 01 March 2024.
When making the announcement of Mr Marokane’s appointment on 08 December 2023, Eskom indicated that he would join the organisation no later than 31 March 2024.
“On behalf of the Eskom Board, I officially welcome Dan to the organisation. Eskom employees were excited to hear that Dan will rejoin the company. They remember his hands-on leadership style that is needed right now,” said Eskom Board Chairman, Mteto Nyati.
“The Board wishes him well as he steers Eskom in the right direction and leading its turnaround from the front. We have confidence in his capabilities, as well as those of the leadership and staff of Eskom, to turn the organisation around,” added Nyati.
