Siemens and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are enhancing their collaboration, streamlining the development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) applications for businesses across diverse sectors and sizes.

Professionals in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, insurance, and banking can now effortlessly create and enhance applications using state-of-the-art generative AI technology.

“This is achieved through Siemens’ integration of Amazon Bedrock—a service providing access to high-performing foundation models from leading AI companies via a unified API, complete with security, privacy, and responsible AI features—with Mendix, the prominent low-code platform within the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio,” reads the statement.

“By integrating Amazon Bedrock into our low-code platform, we are democratizing generative AI technology and empowering everyone to create the applications customers need to become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable,” said Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens.
“Making smarter applications without programming expertise accelerates innovation and helps companies to tackle skilled labour shortages.”

The integration empowers customers to choose the most suitable generative AI model for their unique needs and seamlessly integrate it into their applications with speed and security.

“This streamlines the development process, making it simpler, faster, and more efficient. In the past, integrating generative AI models required developers to acquire access credentials and write specialized function code,” reads the statement.

Siemens added that thanks to the new Mendix-Amazon Bedrock integration, this task is simplified to just a few clicks. Teams can now craft intelligent, industry-ready applications without the need for specialized programming knowledge, and users can effortlessly interact with information through an intuitive graphical interface and the simplicity of drag-and-drop commands.

Siemens and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are strengthening their partnership to make generative AI easily accessible to application developers across the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem
“Together, AWS and Siemens are empowering companies worldwide to create new capabilities, solutions, and value with generative AI,” said Adam Selipsky, AWS CEO.
“This partnership builds on our 10-year relationship with Siemens, giving customers across all industries the flexible, customizable, secure environment they need to take advantage of new opportunities with generative AI.”
This innovation allows Mendix customers to apply generative AI to drive productivity within their workforce. For instance, using generative AI, a factory worker can find machine documentation faster, generating relevant visualizations without a need to manually search a database, manuals, and records.
A production engineer could also use generative AI to suggest machine adjustments to improve yield, and get suggestions on equipment adjustments, maintenance, or even spare parts to maximize a factory’s productivity.  Customers do not need to build their own AI infrastructure and will be able to harness the power of their company’s data with the highest possible security and privacy, maintaining full control of their data.
