BMW Group South Africa today unveil the newest addition to its leadership team. Effective from July 1, 2023, Thorsten Achenbach assumes the role of Director Digital and Global Solutions at the esteemed BMW IT Hub, situated in Menlyn Maine, Pretoria. This strategic appointment follows in the footsteps of Mr. Klaus von der Osten-Sacken.

Achenbach brings with him a wealth of cosmopolitan experience, having traversed the corporate landscapes of New York, Japan, France, China, and his native Germany while contributing to various international enterprises. His journey culminated with his entry into the esteemed BMW Group. Rooted in German academia, he possesses academic laurels in both Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration.
In 2011, Achenbach embarked on his voyage with the BMW Group, steadily ascending through the ranks and adorning a spectrum of influential roles within BMW Group IT and the broader IT sector.
Among his noteworthy achievements, he masterfully orchestrated a multifaceted program, harmonizing the efforts of Engineering, Production, and Procurement departments. His most recent triumph saw him hold the esteemed mantle of Vice President IT, Engineering, and Quality.
On his appointment, Achenbach said “I am very excited to be in South Africa and look forward to joining hands with the local team to make the BMW IT Hub an industry leader.”
