Is the Live Casino Experience Set to Overtake Traditional Casino Gaming?

Over the last decade, the online gambling industry has exploded with the advancements in technology and the changes in the law in places like America, where previously a lot of gambling and betting was illegal. The evolution of the online casino game has also come along in a short time, with live casino games becoming a much better experience than the traditional CGI used in most iGaming. This has led to speculation that suggests the live casino experience will overtake traditional bricks and mortar casinos.

The Appeal of Live Casino

When online casinos hosted CGI based games, there was no interaction element. Chat rooms were offered, but unless the player chose to talk with other players, it was a solitary experience. Now for some people, that was ok; they enjoyed the fact they could play their favourite casino games in the comfort of their own homes. However, when live gaming was launched, the online casino had a lot more to offer. As technology continues to progress, live casinos are also merging with Virtual Reality to provide the players with an even more realistic experience for their gambling fun.

A Fully Immersive Experience

The live casino is branded as ‘a fully immersive experience’. The croupier appears on a live video stream, guiding the players through the game just as they would in any casino worldwide. This appealed to the internet generation and meant the industry could expand further. From a logistics point of view, the studios used for filming can be located anywhere. If the players have a suitable bandwidth, the game is much closer to being there, and they can talk to the dealer and other players making it more sociable.

Play Anywhere, Anytime

While most people would agree that iconic casinos, like those found on the Las Vegas strip, will always have appeal, unless you happen to live near one, playing there requires a lot of planning. High street casinos have something of a poor reputation and, unless they are maintained to a good standard, are not overly nice places to be. This has meant that local casinos have closed and disappeared for good in many towns and cities. Online casino games are offered around the clock, meaning that players can access them to suit their lives.

Access from Any Device

The other appeal of an online casino is that players can access them via any device. Almost all providers offer apps, so games can be loaded to desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. In a generation that seems to enjoy the ability to access everything from grocery shopping to television over the internet, it makes sense that this easy access would appeal as well. Players can sit on the sofa, watch TV, and play casino games simultaneously, and without the extra spending on food, drink, and transport, they have more spare funds to gamble with. Immersive and convenient is undoubtedly addictive.

Will Land Based Casinos Survive

The bottom line is that online casino games are set to knock physical venues off the top spot when it comes to playing choices, but there will be a place for the more famous casinos around the world. Las Vegas is a prominent tourist destination, and that is unlikely to change; and when in Vegas, people tend to visit casinos. Monte Carlo and Macau are also iconic locations, and these will still be must-visit destinations for lots of people. There are also various tournaments on the celebrity poker circuit that use some of these glamorous venues, and that also doesn’t look likely to change.
