One of South Africa’s most prominent tech solutions providers, Altron Systems Integration (Altron SI), has officially partnered with Teraco Data Environments (Teraco), Africa’s largest vendor-neutral colocation data centre provider. Through this partnership, Altron SI and its customers have the advantage of deploying within the most interconnected cloud ecosystem in Africa.

Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Altron SI, Vaugn Naidoo believes this marks the beginning of a beneficial partnership for his business and its customers.

“The interconnection density present within Teraco’s facilities is not available elsewhere in Africa.”

He says Teraco’s diverse ecosystem is home to all major cloud on-ramps in the region, making this a strategic choice for the deployment of Altron’s platform.

“Teraco’s unique proposition and investments into hyperscale grade facilities is something no other data centre service provider can claim, allowing Altron to cement a unique position in the market with their innovation.”

Naidoo believes a partnership with Teraco allows Altron SI to offer its customers a secure data environment that matches infrastructure and networks to one or multiple clouds and business partners.

“Our customers need a partner who is going to manage the migration and ongoing operations of this infrastructure so they don’t have to worry about it and can, in turn, focus on delivering on their own business promises to their customers.”

Naidoo believes in placing the right workloads into the right architectures. This process starts with gaining an understanding of our customers’ holistic strategies and proposed journey to the cloud.

“You see, not all workloads belong in the cloud as can be seen by how many of our customers are moving back to hybrid architectures.”

The partnership with Teraco fills an important part of the strategy for customers who have a cloud strategy, who no longer wants to manage their own DC/Computer room or are mid cycle in their current technology life cycle. This where Teraco fits, Safe Harbour.

Teraco provides carrier and cloud-neutral colocation data centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban and, with over 20,000 cross-connects, is Africa’s most interconnected data centre hub. As the first provider of highly resilient, vendor-neutral data centre environments in sub-Saharan Africa, Teraco brings global content closer to the digital edge.

Altron SI, one of South Africa’s largest end-to-end ICT service providers, works with large enterprises across various industries, including financial services, telecommunications, the public sector, retail, mining, manufacturing, energy and more. Similarly, Teraco, with its ecosystem of cloud, content, and network providers – services these same industries.

Head of Sales at Teraco Sven Blom says, “The cloud on-ramps in Teraco’s data centres offer fast, highly secure interconnection to the banking, insurance, mining, retail and logistics sectors. Partnering with Altron SI as an enablement platform allows us to extend a truly hybrid cloud environment to their customers.”

Through Teraco, Altron SI can provide:

Simplified deployments

With cloud and outsourced networking services now becoming the norm, Altron SI customers can more easily benefit without implementing additional physical hardware, software or infrastructure.

Fewer errors and downtime

Networks architected on interconnection principles are far more resilient than one supported by point-to-point connections. Teraco’s uptime and resilience will give Altron SI customers access to a distinct competitive advantage.

Seamless collaboration

Interconnection ensures that teams can collaborate and remain efficient no matter where they are, what time it is or what device they want to use.

Capable of supporting IoT

With the rise of the Internet of Things as a trend, Teraco’s interconnected environment will allow all those endpoints to work as intended.

No reliance on a single vendor

Teraco data centres offer Altron SI and its customers access to carrier-neutral data centres where they can connect to multiple providers – improving resilience as issues that may crop up with only a single vendor are negated.
