The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) on Tuesday issued a statement on Twitter regarding the R350 COVID-19 Grant, which said ‘nothing at all’.

“There is no fixed payment date for the special Covid-19 SRD grant. The applicant will be paid for each month as long as they still meet the qualification criteria. Every month the application will be verified to ensure that the applicant still qualifies for that particular month,” SASSA wrote in its official Twitter.

“Those who feel aggrieved by the outcome of their application should either call 0800 60 10 11 or email [email protected] with their complaints in order to access the recourse mechanism. The appeal process is still in discussions.”

The statement angered Twitter users who wanted to know when they should expect their R350 Social Relief Grant to be paid.

Many applicants for the R350 COVID-19 Grant were frustrated by the message and voiced their anger on Twitter:

— 🐝SthembiSo😎Nxele🐜Zondo. (@Sthembiso10955) June 23, 2020

Really 😳😳
I was declined and I'm still wondering why because I've been unemployed for 6 years, I have no SARS contributions or I have contributed to the UIF but didn't receive my contribution. That was 6 years ago. Is there a race criteria we don't know about?

Applications are pending for close to 2 months now🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

— wycliff motsoeneng (@wycliffmotsoen1) June 23, 2020

When will you be announcing the appeal process?

— Thabo Innocent Batshe (@ThaboBatshe1) June 23, 2020

Please @OfficialSASSA reply back, I've tried calling to no avail, emails get an automatic reply, I just want to know when will I get the money as status shows I was paid on the 26 of May, but I never received any money. Please assist in this regard. Ngiyacela

— BERTHA (@Gogowami1) June 23, 2020

This is a just a scam because people have not been working for years and still were declined. The @GovernmentZA shouldn't even started this grant @deptoflabour how is that it shows that people are employed when they are not.

A week before last week I’ve just changed the payment from post office to my bank account, and when i check it says approved .the reason why i change is tht evertim i go to the post office its always full if not full the machines isn’t working if not working then they stole the machines which i end up running out of money for the taxi to go to the post office.
