Manufacturers of top mobile brands have been doing everything possible to ensure the privacy of users, but with hundreds of thousands of apps available for free download, everyone is at risk. Currently, there are millions of different apps on Google Play, some of which are notoriously responsible for compromised privacy issues.

It is possible, though, to reduce the risks of this nasty adware and malware by being extremely cautious with the kind of apps you download. There are some Google-verified apps that you can consider installing in your mobile device, and also, you can go an extra mile to protect your privacy by enabling encryption to bar hackers and data thieves. For example, if you are a betting fan, you’ll be required to input your personal information during the registration process on the Betway mobile app, and, whatever you have on your phone must be safeguarded at all costs.

Apps that protect your privacy

Technology has made it possible to develop apps that keep data secure on your mobile device, and while we currently have so many of them, here is a sneak-peak of the top five.

#1. Express VPN

VPN or Virtual Private Network is the most common privacy boost for mobile devices. On top of hiding user IP address from visited sites, it also hides the sites and apps used to the internet service provider. With the Express VPN, you can easily manipulate your location to access geo-restricted content.

#2. Private Zone

Previously accessible as LEO Privacy Guard, Private Zone blocks other apps from accessing your phone’s private information. It uses an app lock to hide content such as photos and videos from unauthorized users, and provides additional features such as junk cleaner, customized lock screen, and also lets you encrypt files before uploading them to your personal drive.

#3. DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo takes the place of your default search engine and does not leak your history to other sites like Google and Bing does. This app also does not record any information you search for from the internet, and with it you can conceal your location from all the sites you visit. Top search engines place cookies on devices to keep track of your searches, but DuckDuckGo does not.

#4. Kyms

Kyms (initials for Keep Your Media Safe) appears on your phone screen as an ordinary calculator, and it can be effectively used to make calculations. It launches an encrypted vault upon entering a password or 4-digit PIN, where you can keep all your images and videos.

Additionally, Kyms comes with an in-built browser from where you can download media straight into your vault.

#5. FreeOTP Authenticator

Top websites such as Facebook will let you secure your account login with a 2-way authentication process. That means that whenever you log in using a new device or different location you’ll be requested to enter an authentication code sent to a linked mobile number. With that in place, it is possible for someone to get your password, but they cannot login because they don’t have the code.

FreeOTP Authenticator generates these 2-way codes for accessing selected accounts, and you can still do it for Betway and other sites of your choice. However, it is not an open source app so there may be questions about the safety of the generated codes.
