They have changed the way we live our lives, have simplified everyday tasks and made us more productive, and once again it is time for the biggest celebration of app development on the continent.

The MTN Business App of the Year Awards is taking place on 24 October and event founder and organiser Creative Space Media is urging any local champions of app development talent in South Africa to enter.

The Awards categories include best consumer solution, best enterprise solution, best incubated solution, most innovative solution, best health solution, best gaming solution, best agricultural solution, best educational solution, best financial solution as well as best breakthrough developer, best “South African” app and Best Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) solution.

The MTN Business App of the Year Awards plays a vital role in elevating local entrepreneurs and showcasing exciting new innovations within the ICT industry in South Africa.

Some of the apps which have been discovered through this platform over the last 8 years and which are now household names include Snapscan, DSTVNow, Stokfella and Domestly.

With only 50 entries in the inaugural competition in 2011, last year saw over 600 entries, a clear indication of both the popularity of these Awards as well as the growing pool of talented app developers locally.

Be part of this platform that celebrates local talent, rewards out-of-the-box thinking and continues to enable new technology start-ups to build innovative applications. Submissions close 25 September 2019 after which a judging panel of leading tech experts will start the shortlisting process.

Category winners, as well as the overall winner, will be announced at the MTN Business App of the Year Awards being held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on 24 October, with the overall winner walking away with a trip to Silicon Valley to the value of over R200 000.
